Henry Foundation Drilling Inc was awarded this challenging project located in South Vancouver’s River District community. The project consisted of 460 pcs of 900mm diameter secant piles installed to a depth of up to 18m in difficult soil conditions with a water table of only 2m below ground. The pile toes were installed into a clean sand layer that made it difficult to clean the casing without creating a suction and disturbing the bearing stratum. HFDI used an airlift system to finish 330pcs of the 460 piles on the project to get a clean pile bottom and allow those piles to be tremie poured. HFDI used a BG39, BG30 and BG28 for drills and a 100-ton crawler crane for the concrete installation.
